PROJECT: Expand the audience of a niche online electronics retailer to the wider tech-consumer audience.

Newegg.com is the 2nd largest online retailer for consumer electronics. Only amazon.com sells more. But most people have never heard of Newegg.com. That is, unless you are a tech geek. Gamers, PC DIY-ers, and bargain-seeking IT departments have considered Newegg.com their little secret. Our goal was to give credit to the geeks who use the site while inviting ordinary shoppers to get not only the gear, but really advice and reviews from the people who actually know what they’re talking about—the Geeks.

As a result we increased organic search by over 30% and increased new users—beating revenue goals by 300% and exceeding new user goals by 140%.

Inventing The Eggies

To increase awareness and preference for Newegg.com among the tech elite, we created the world’s first award show recognizing consumer reviews. 

 We turned Newegg’s annual event at CES into a celebration of the expert reviews written by Newegg.com users. Resulting in a 24% increase in review submissions and an annual awards event that continues today.
